An ideal Apprentice application is one in which the same or similar problems are being solved repeatedly, throughout an organization, with considerable effort and questionable consistency. Our software allows you to capture the rules that people are using to make decisions, and embed them in software that automates the process for everyone involved. We call ourselves 'Apprentice Systems' (as opposed to the more traditional descriptor 'expert systems') because the computer is never the expert, you are. The best a piece of software can do is to learn from you (or other experts) and copy your actions faithfully. That is what Apprentice Systems' products do.  By faithfully executing the rules that are embedded in it, an Apprentice simulates 'intelligence', and thus is an 'Intelligent System'.
