Apprentice Systems has built a platform to enable non-programmers to construct sophisticated intelligent systems using a visual interface.  Our software uses an inference engine architecture.  That is, we have separated the application logic from the software that executes this logic.  The application logic is referred to as knowledge and is stored in a declarative knowledgebase.  The software, referred to as the Apprentice Engine, is designed to be integrated into end user software applications.   The overall effect is to create an Apprentice application, an intelligent agent, loaded with your application knowledge and seamlessly integrated into familiar end user applications such as Microsoft Office.

Apprentice Architecture

The advantage of this architecture is that an embedded Apprentice application can be taught about any domain just by loading the knowledge.  And the knowledge can be visually authored by an expert without the help of a programmer.  This architecture allows your solutions to be agile, deeply focused and lower maintenance.

Apprentice Systems' software is built using Microsoft's .NET framework and is highly integrated with the Microsoft Office platform.  .NET connects a broad range of personal and business technologies making it easy to access and use important information, whenever and wherever it is needed to increase productivity. Built on Web service standards, .NET enables our applications and systems to connect with software and services across platforms and programming languages.  In addition, Apprentice tools integrate easily to any ODBC database, incorporating stored components into a design and saving completed solutions.
