Home Theater Designer Tour
Step 3: The Rack View and Plan View
The Rack View shows all rackable equipment, and provides several generic racks on the stencil. Shapes on the Rack View are designed to snap into the racks provided, and once 'glued' in place will move with the rack as it is moved.
The Plan View has two stencils - one with top views of the Home Theater equipment and the other with a variety of Visio shapes such as walls, doors, windows and furniture. This view lets you show a prospective customer how their home theater will be laid out. You can also import a picture of a to-scale floor plan and size it quickly and easily to the scale of the Plan View page (next picture).
Once you include the floor plan, you can overlay it with walls, doors and windows, then delete the picture. You can then layout furniture and equipment in the room, to represent your recommended design.
The Visio Diagrams can be exported to Microsoft Visio, where they can be modified, printed or published to the Web. Examples of these outputs are provided on the Home Theater Designer Overview page.
