Legal Apprentice Tour - Step 4

Example of an Apprentice Decision Application

                            Step 1Step 2Step 3Step 4Step 5

The full Implication Tree, with its dynamic substitutions, appears.  The user can now begin to attach evidence stored in the case file in prior steps to the appropriate propositions in the tree.

The user makes judgments about the quality of the evidence and whether or not it supports a given proposition.  As propositions in the Implication Tree are turned from their initial state of 'undecided' to either true or false, the Legal Apprentice automatically reasons up the tree as far as possible, turning other, dependent nodes 'true' or 'false'.

A complete argument has been made when the top node, in this case 'Dr. Robert Turk is liable to Barbara Ann Snyder for battery', turns either green or red, true or false.
