Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI) was founded in 1938. Since then it has grown into a renowned consumer cooperative supplier of specialty outdoor products. Based in Kent, Washington, REI has more than 7,000 employees and serves more than 2 million members through 68 retail stores in 24 states and by direct sales through the Internet, telephone, and mail
The REI Gear & Apparel division brings high-quality profitable products to market, which has fueled the demand to increase the volume of REI-brand products. REI wants to better understand current product development processes and improve them to more quickly and efficiently deliver its products to market, while maintaining high quality standards.
Using Apprentice Process Modeler (based on Microsoft Visio 2003), REI models processes, optimizes them, and generates project plans from them for use in the Microsoft Office Enterprise Project Management Solution. REI manages the project with the EPM Solution and Microsoft Windows Sharepoint Services and communicates with Microsoft Office Outlook.
